Baseball Preview: Marshall Owls vs. Mexico Bulldogs        
        
		
            The Marshall Owls will head out on the road to  face off against  the Mexico Bulldogs  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. Marshall has given up an average of 8.5  runs per game this season, but Monday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Marshall came up short against Lafayette County  and fell  13-8. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Huskers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
  Logan Kirchhoff was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 4-for-5 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Creighton Byrd also deserves some recognition as  he  scored his first  run of the season.
Meanwhile, Mexico gave up the first  runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Callaway, sneaking past  2-1. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive  victory against them.
 Drew DeMint spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Mexico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brady Fox, who  went 1-for-3 with one  RBI.
 Mexico pushed their record up to 17-11 with the  win, which was their third straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
