Softball Recap: South Bison vs. Rock Springs TIGERS
South extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Rock Springs TIGERS, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the TIGERS this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on April 5th.
As for Rock Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Rock Springs' part, Rilynn Wester made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Wester has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Rock Springs got a massive performance out of Kyndall Turnwall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Turnwall a new career-high. Tarin Anderson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rock Springs, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Green River at 3:30 p.m. on May 8.
