Soccer Game Preview: South Iredell vs. Cox Mill

The South Iredell Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Cox Mill Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South Iredell is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mooresville on Friday. The Vikings fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, South Iredell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Mooresville are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in April, Cox Mill was forced to settle for a draw on Monday. They and Lake Norman Charter finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

With that draw, Cox Mill's record moves to 9-8-3. As for South Iredell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8-1 record this season.

South Iredell suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Cox Mill when the teams last played back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
