The Delaware Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Berne Union Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Delaware Christian got the win against Shekinah Christian by a conclusive 18-5. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Hovda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katie Hobbs, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cosette Stump, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delaware Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Berne Union sidestepped Bishop Ready for an 8-6 win.
Berne Union also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Reese Besco gave up six runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.
At the plate, Berne Union got a big performance out of Rylee North, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Josilyn Hedges, who earned one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.
Berne Union's record now sits at 13-10. As for Delaware Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Delaware Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .562. However, it's not like Berne Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .540. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Delaware Christian suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Berne Union when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
