Softball Recap: McKeesport Comes Up Short

McKeesport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-3 to the Greater Latrobe Wildcats.

Ryenn Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Addison Homer was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendel Bercik, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

McKeesport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Greater Latrobe, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKeesport will head out to challenge Gateway at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greater Latrobe, they will head out on the road to square off against Kiski Area at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
