Softball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Wins Going Away Against Campbell County

Knoxville Catholic got themselves on the board against Campbell County on Monday, but Campbell County never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars 6-0. Considering the Fighting Irish have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Caitlin Brooks's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hadley Troutt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Claudia Schaad, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Knoxville Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Campbell County, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knoxville Catholic will face off against South-Doyle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Campbell County, they will venture away from home to challenge Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
