Valley Christian won against Heritage Christian last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Defenders were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Village Christian Crusaders. The result was nothing new for the Defenders, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Valley Christian got a great performance from Rachel Zhang as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Zhang has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Choyce Chambers was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Kayla Martin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Village Christian only posted an OBP of .261.
The win made it two in a row for Valley Christian and bumps their season record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Village Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Coming up, Valley Christian will host Whittier Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Heralds will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Defenders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Village Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against King/Drew at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
