Softball Game Preview: Karns City Gremlins vs. Keystone Panthers

Karns City has gone a perfect 6-0 against Keystone recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Gremlins will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Karns City will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Karns City's victory against Clarion-Limestone wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gremlins skirted past the Lions 4-3.

Addison Burrows spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Lyrik Reed was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Aubrey Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Keystone couldn't beat Cranberry Area on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Panthers lost 17-8 to the Berries. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Karns City pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Keystone, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Karns City took their win against Keystone in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Gremlins repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
