Softball Game Preview: Slocomb Red Tops vs. Charles Henderson Trojans

The Slocomb Red Tops will square off against the Charles Henderson Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Slocomb put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Northside Methodist Academy as they made off with a 16-3 victory. The Red Tops haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Molly Mcgowan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mcgowan was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chloe Andrews was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anna Ray, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

Slocomb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Charles Henderson waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 11 runs or more this season.

Charles Henderson's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6. As for Slocomb, their record now sits at 9-13.

Slocomb skirted past Charles Henderson 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2015. Do the Red Tops have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
