Basketball Game Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. Borden Braves

The Washington Hatchets will take on the Borden Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Washington hadn't beaten South Knox on the road since November 9, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Hatchets walked away with a 52-41 win over the Spartans.

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katie Reed led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Schuckman, who went 5-for-6 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Borden had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Christian Academy by a score of 48-40. Winning may never get old, but the Braves sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row dating back to last season.

Washington came up short against Borden when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 54-49. Can the Hatchets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
