Basketball Preview: Ryle Raiders vs. Conner Cougars
Ryle has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Conner Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Ryle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Last Friday, Ryle strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 53-37. Given Ryle's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Eagles are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ryle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinn Eubank, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Eubank is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Baker, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Conner suffered a rough 74-48 defeat at the hands of the Tomcats on Saturday. Conner has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ryle pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Conner, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Ryle was able to grind out a solid victory over the Cougars in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 60-50. Will Ryle repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
