Baseball Recap: Bear Creek Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lakewood

There's no place like home for Bear Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lakewood Tigers with a sharp 7-1 victory on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Tigers on Tuesday, they had to take a 10-6 loss.

Jamin Patterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Bear Creek: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-13 otherwise. Patterson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Bear Creek got a big performance out of Matt Hegerle, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Hegerle is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Memphis Sparks, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bear Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Bear Creek's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Lakewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Bear Creek will challenge Highlands Ranch at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Valor Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
