Baseball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Ellet Orangement, falling 25-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Orangement this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-0 last Wednesday.

As for Ellet, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. Considering they have won four matchups by more than 13 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Ellet's part, Keaton Mckeel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mckeel also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ellet is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Mckeel was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ellet got a massive performance out of Jaden West, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave West a new career-high. Logan Wilson was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, North will face off against Buchtel at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Ellet, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
