Garces Memorial has won six straight games at home, while Monache has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Rams will host the Marauders at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Garces Memorial 2.5, Monache 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Garces Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lompoc by a score of 6-2.
Jaiden Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Reese Bowles and Giuliana Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Bowles went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Viviana Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Monache sidestepped Kingsburg for a 3-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Marauders have won by exactly two runs.
Sophia Martinez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Aaliyah Mosqueda was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Monache is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Garces Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.
Garces Memorial was able to grind out a solid win over Monache in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, winning 7-3. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
