Baseball Game Preview: Clearfield Falcons vs. Bountiful RedHawks

The Clearfield Falcons will challenge the Bountiful RedHawks at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Clearfield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Viewmont just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Colt Chambers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Clearfield: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 6-8 otherwise. Logan Fenn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Bountiful suffered their closest defeat since April 10, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Northridge by a score of 8-6. Like the Falcons, the RedHawks also had to let a streak go: they had won five straight, but that streak is no more.

Mickey Willis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hudson Malmrose, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Bountiful's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-9. As for Clearfield, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Clearfield beat Bountiful 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the RedHawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
