Football Recap: Provo Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Provo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Park City Miners 17-14.

Malik Filimoe'Atu was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Provo also got help from Ronnie Wright, who showed off his sure hands for 97 receiving yards.

Another reason for the win was Provo's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Griffin Demartini with two.

Park City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Eli Warner, who picked up 146 receiving yards and one TD. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Osorio, who rushed for 65 yards and one score on only nine carries.

The win got Provo back to even at 4-4. As for Park City, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Provo will welcome Uintah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Utes at the right time seeing as the Utes are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Park City, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Timpanogos at 7:00 p.m. The Miners' defense better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 32.1 points per game this season.
