Baseball Recap: Manitou Springs Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Manitou Springs's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over the Woodland Park Panthers. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Preston Rhodes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Martinez, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Maxton Bolster was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Manitou Springs' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Woodland Park, they dropped their record down to 3-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manitou Springs will face off against The Classical Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
