Basketball Game Preview: Eastland Mavericks vs. Millsap Bulldogs

The Eastland Mavericks will challenge the Millsap Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Eastland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Eastland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 67-30 win over Dublin. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mavericks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millsap, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 47-34 win over Breckenridge on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Millsap's win came from a few key players Eastland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elissa Werne, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Those six steals gave her a new career-high. Kaleigh Wooldridge was another key player, putting up four points along with 12 steals and six boards.

Millsap smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Millsap's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-19. As for Eastland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
