Baseball Recap: Winston County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Winston County came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Cold Springs Eagles on Tuesday. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Winston County got a great performance from Camden Smith as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Smith also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Yellowjackets are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Chris Clemons was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Garrett Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Winston County's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Cold Springs, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-13 record.

Winston County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
