Denver Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Monte Vista Pirates on Friday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Mason Reilly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Nate Bovasso was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Denver Christian is undefeated when Bovasso posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise.
