Baseball Recap: Denver Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Denver Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Monte Vista Pirates on Friday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mason Reilly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Nate Bovasso was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Denver Christian is undefeated when Bovasso posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. James Lord was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Denver Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

The win (which was Denver Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 19-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8.

As of now, neither Denver Christian nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
