Basketball Recap: Alamo Navajo Beats Hondo Valley for Their Fourth Straight Win

Alamo Navajo had won three straight games and Zephaniah Guerro did his part to make it four on Tuesday. The Alamo Navajo Cougars blew past the Hondo Valley Eagles 79-31 thanks in part to Guerro, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 30 games he's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cobre Mexicano, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and three steals. What's more, he also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024.

Alamo Navajo's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Hondo Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Coming up, Alamo Navajo will take on Carrizozo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hondo Valley, they will challenge Mountainair at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountainair knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Hondo Valley likes a good challenge.
