Softball Recap: Thatcher Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tanque Verde, Thatcher was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Douglas Bulldogs. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 10-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Kacee McCluskey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kalli Bingham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

With the victory, Thatcher broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-12. As for Douglas, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-6.

Coming up, Thatcher will challenge Sabino at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabercats have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Douglas, they will take on Amphitheater at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.91 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
