Basketball Recap: Spotsylvania Comes Up Short

Spotsylvania was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 99-22 defeat at the hands of the James Monroe Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 30th).

Spotsylvania's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for James Monroe, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spotsylvania has already played their next matchup (against Mechanicsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. James Monroe won't have much time to rest: their next game is against John Marshall at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (John Marshall has won four straight at home, while James Monroe won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
