Basketball Recap: Downey Takes a Loss

After flying high against Paramount last Friday, Downey came back down to earth. The Downey Vikings fell just short of the Bellflower Buccaneers by a score of 50-47 on Tuesday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Vikings who fell 64-62 when the teams previously met back in December of 2018.

When it comes to explaining why Downey lost, don't look at Tyler Harris. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Harris' evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Earl Santos, who posted seven points.

Downey moved to 18-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Bellflower, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a massive bump to their 20-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Downey nor Bellflower have any future games scheduled.
