Basketball Game Preview: Hillcrest Jaguars vs. Monroe County Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hillcrest Jaguars duke it out with the Monroe County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Monroe County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hillcrest, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Hillcrest was able to grind out a solid victory over Flomaton, taking the game 56-47. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sky?La Mixon, who posted 17 points. Mixon is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayla Williams, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Monroe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 37-27 to Excel.

Hillcrest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Monroe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Hillcrest beat Monroe County 59-46 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillcrest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
