Preview: Excel Christian Academy Spartans vs. Haines City Hornets
The Excel Christian Academy Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Haines City Hornets at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Excel Christian Academy has four straight wins, Haines City has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Excel Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 87-32 win over Winter Haven Christian on the road. That 87-32 margin sets a new team best for Excel Christian Academy this season.
Meanwhile, Haines City took a serious blow against Hope Academy on Friday, falling 87-51. While losing is never fun, Haines City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 646th, while Hope Academy is ranked 120th).
Excel Christian Academy pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Haines City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
