Baseball Recap: Sonora Takes a Loss

Sonora extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 28 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-19. They lost 16-0 to the Ripon Christian Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Ripon Christian, their win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Considering they have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Ripon Christian's part, Jackson Howell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Howell has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Maxx Anderson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Talen Tameling was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ripon Christian beat Sonora by a score of 12-2 on Thursday.
