Softball Game Preview: Ardmore Tigers vs. Curry Yellowjackets

Ardmore is 0-4 against Curry since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Yellowjackets in a tournament on Friday. Curry took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ardmore, who comes in off a win.

Ardmore barely beat Priceville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Bulldogs 12-2 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Meanwhile, after a string of 33 wins, Curry's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Huntsville by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Yellowjackets have suffered since March 9, 2024.

Curry got a good showing from Skiely Perry, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Perry has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ambrey Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shileigh Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ardmore's win bumped their record up to 21-14-1. As for Curry, their defeat dropped their record down to 38-2.

Ardmore came up short against Curry in their previous meeting back in March, falling 6-3. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
