It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Garrard County ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-2  victory over the Marion County Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Golden Lions have posted  since March 27th.
 Emily Hounshell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off   eight  hits. Hounshell was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with one  triple and one  run.
 Hounshell wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Zoe Jordon, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
 Garrard County  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion County struck out nine times.
Garrard County's victory  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 9-8. As for Marion County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
 Coming up, Garrard County will welcome Lincoln County  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Marion County, they will head out to  challenge Taylor County  at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their  tenth straight  win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
