Basketball Recap: Richfield Comes Up Short

Richfield lost against Canyon View back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Richfield Wildcats and the Canyon View Falcons didn't end well, with the Richfield Wildcats falling 57-43.

When it comes to explaining why Richfield lost, don't look at Abbee Albrecht. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 9 to rack up 15 points and eight boards. Albrecht is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Kari Sorenson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Canyon View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maya Nichols, who posted nine points along with three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Nichols a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Emery Miles, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Richfield's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Canyon View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Canyon View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
