Baseball Game Preview: Lynn English Bulldogs vs. Somerville Highlanders

The Lynn English Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Somerville Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lynn English can't be too worried about heading out to take on Somerville: they just beat Malden at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Bulldogs never let the Golden Tornados get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Monday.

The result came thanks to Engel Thomas's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lynn English is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Lynn English saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gilbert Galva, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Somerville beat Revere 6-1 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

Lynn English's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Somerville, their record is now 6-11.

Lynn English might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Somerville in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
