Basketball Recap: Hodgeman County Longhorns vs. Bucklin Red Aces
The Hodgeman County Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 69-60 to Bucklin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hodgeman County in their matchups with the Red Aces: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Hodgeman County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Reece. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 48.3% of Hodgeman County's points, marking the 15th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazen Rydquist, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Hodgeman County's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-6. As for Bucklin, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hodgeman County will face off against the Mavericks at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bucklin, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lancers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spearville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
