Softball Game Preview: Ralls Jackrabbits vs. Liberty Patriots

The Ralls Jackrabbits will challenge the Liberty Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Ralls came up short against Petersburg and fell 24-20.

Mercedez Alcala and Destiny Garza stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alcala went 5-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and one double, while Garza got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those five hits gave Alcala a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Johnson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Liberty came into Tuesday's matchup having lost 14 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Abernathy on Tuesday as Liberty made off with a 16-5 win. The Patriots not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024.

Liberty's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Ralls, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
