Basketball Game Preview: Fountain Valley Danes vs. Sierra Stallions

The Fountain Valley Danes will challenge the Sierra Stallions at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Fountain Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Sierra will be coming in after a loss.

Fountain Valley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Calhan: they outscored them in every quarter. Fountain Valley was the clear victors by a 64-43 margin over Calhan on Thursday. The Danes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jaden Lopez-Hardy, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Fountain Valley is 5-1 when Lopez-Hardy posts 15 or more points, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert Dixon, who went 6-for-7 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Sierra played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against The Classical Academy, falling 63-33. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Titans are ranked 52nd).

The win made it two in a row for Fountain Valley and bumps their season record up to 6-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Sierra, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
