The Morgan Township Cherokees will head out on the road to face off against the Tri-Township Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Morgan Township is headed into Friday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They fell 51-38 to Washington Township on Tuesday.
The losing side was boosted by Madi Lemmons, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Josie Lemmons, who posted eight points.
Even though they lost, Morgan Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington Township only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tri-Township's game on Tuesday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kouts.
Morgan Township will have to contain Jayde Pryor as she made an impact in Tri-Township's last game. She had 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That was a full 36.8% of Tri-Township's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Armentia, who scored seven points and three steals.
Tri-Township has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Morgan Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Morgan Township has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Tri-Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Morgan Township skirted past Tri-Township 36-34 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morgan Township since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
