Baseball Game Preview: Alvin Yellowjackets vs. Dobie Longhorns

For the second straight game, Alvin will face off against Dobie. The Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Alvin is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since February 27th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dobie by a score of 7-5.

For Dobie's part, Juelz Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martinez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Dobie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise.

Martinez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eliseo Molina, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Dobie is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Alvin, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
