Basketball Recap: South Bend Riley Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when South Bend Riley challenged Bremen on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a 57-43 bruising from the Lions. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, South Bend Riley still got an impressive performance from Tinayja Summers, who went 8-for-16 en route to 19 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Summers has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Maddison Lawson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Emma Lawmaster was her usual excellent self, shooting 53% from the field on her way to 22 points along with six boards and three steals for Bremen. Those 22 points gave Lawmaster a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Kincaid, who posted 15 points and three steals.

South Bend Riley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Bremen, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Riley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jimtown at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bremen, they will square off against LaVille at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
