Bethel is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Pomperaug on Friday, but Pomperaug came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Bethel Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pomperaug Panthers 30-28. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Josh Macomber was his usual excellent self, rushing for 153 yards and four touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season. Bethel also relied on Everett Salmon, who's 46-yard boot wound up being the difference in the game.

Bethel's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Pomperaug, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

After each having a week off, Bethel and Weston will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. Bethel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 28.5 points per game this season. As for Pomperaug, they will challenge Newtown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Newtown's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
