Baseball Game Preview: Crivitz Wolverines vs. Coleman Cougars

The Crivitz Wolverines will take on the Coleman Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Crivitz comes in on nine and Coleman on six.

While Crivitz's victory against Saint Thomas Aquinas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cavaliers a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Wolverines have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Coleman made easy work of Saint Thomas Aquinas on Monday and carried off an 8-1 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Wyatt Bieber made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Coleman let Gavin Pusick and Miles Lewis run wild. Pusick went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Lewis went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Lewis has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Lange, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Crivitz's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Coleman, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Crivitz got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Coleman by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
