Basketball Preview: Indiana School for the Deaf Deaf Hoosiers vs. Southwestern Spartans
Indiana School for the Deaf is 0-4 against the Spartans since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indiana School for the Deaf Deaf Hoosiers will head out on the road to face off against the Southwestern Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Indiana School for the Deaf struggled with assists on Thursday (the Titans had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Indiana School for the Deaf took a serious blow against the Titans, falling 69-39. Indiana School for the Deaf has not had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dylan Puent put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That was a full 46.2% of Indiana School for the Deaf's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matthew Saaty was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Southwestern had to suffer through a rough 64-37 loss at the hands of the Jets. While losing is never fun, Southwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Jets are ranked 155th).
Indiana School for the Deaf's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Southwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Indiana School for the Deaf was taken down by the Spartans 67-33 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Indiana School for the Deaf avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
