Soccer Game Preview: Wilcox vs. Santa Clara

Wilcox and Santa Clara are an even 2-2-2 against one another since December of 2015, but likely not for long. The Wilcox Chargers will be playing at home against the Santa Clara Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wilcox fell victim to Mountain View and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Spartans are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Santa Clara can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Fremont.

Santa Clara's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3-1. As for Wilcox, they dropped their record down to 4-3-2 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Wilcox came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Clara in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will Wilcox repeat their success, or does Santa Clara have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
