Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Briarwood Academy's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

If Augusta Prep Day wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Briarwood Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Kelleyanne Mooney. The Briarwood Academy Buccaneers blew past the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers 54-26 on Monday thanks in part to Mooney, who posted 17 points. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Another player making a difference was Lauryn Simpson, who had nine points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Briarwood Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Augusta Prep Day, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Briarwood Academy has already played their next match, a 41-28 win against Westminster Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Augusta Prep Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 38-16 victory against Monsignor Donovan Catholic on the 24th.
