Lamar has gone a perfect 10-0 against Great Falls recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lamar Silver Foxes will square off against the Great Falls Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Silver Foxes fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They came out on top against Dillon by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Silver Foxes as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Tucker Watford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Cody Barr and Hayden Timmons did most of the damage at the plate: Barr scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Timmons scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hill, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Great Falls waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Indians. Seven seems to be a good number for the Red Devils as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kamden Wood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Great Falls let Jalen Robinson and Kelby Brantley run wild. Robinson scored two runs and stole Three bases., while Brantley scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Robinson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Evans, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Everything went Lamar's way against Great Falls when the teams last played back in March of 2019, as Lamar made off with a 6-0 victory. Does Lamar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Great Falls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
