Softball Game Preview: Whitmire Wolverines vs. Thornwell Saints

Whitmire is a perfect 3-0 against Thornwell since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolverines will welcome the Saints at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Whitmire's offense. They fell just short of Chester by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered since March 8, 2024.

Meanwhile, Thornwell lost 16-6 to Dixie on Wednesday. The Saints have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Madi Porter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Lydia Hefner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Thornwell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Whitmire, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Everything went Whitmire's way against Thornwell when the teams last played back in March, as Whitmire made off with a 21-3 victory. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
