Basketball Game Preview: Annawan Braves/Bravettes vs. Wethersfield Flying Geese

Annawan is 8-2 against Wethersfield since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Annawan Braves/Bravettes will challenge the Wethersfield Flying Geese at 6:00 p.m. Wethersfield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Annawan, who comes in off a win.

Annawan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-43 victory over ROWVA/Galva/Williamsfield. The Braves/Bravettes didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

It was another big night for Bella VanOpdorp, who posted 34 points. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Paige Sierens was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Wethersfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 54-48 to Abingdon/Avon. The defeat continues a trend for the Flying Geese in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now lost three in a row.

Annawan's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-19. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Wethersfield, their loss dropped their record down to 24-5.

Annawan was taken down by Wethersfield 58-25 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Annawan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
