Softball Recap: Parkersburg Takes a Loss

Parkersburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. Marys on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 7-5. If the Big Reds were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Parkersburg saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Parkersburg has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for St. Marys, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

Coming up, Parkersburg will square off against Capital at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Big Reds are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for St. Marys, they will take on Wahama at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 3.5, the White Falcons 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
