Softball Game Preview: Benjamin Franklin Falcons vs. Pearl River Rebels

The Benjamin Franklin Falcons will square off against the Pearl River Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

After dropping their season opener at home, Pearl River is headed out to face a Falcons team ready to give their home crowd a win. Benjamin Franklin lost 18-2 to Plaquemine on Thursday.

Saharah Howard was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sidney Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Pearl River scored first but ultimately less than Pope John Paul II in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 14-5. The loss continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost five in a row.

Emersen Blanchard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Elsensohn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Pearl River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
