Softball Recap: Big Valley Christian Find Success

Big Valley Christian let Riverbank stack four runs on them in the second inning on Friday but luckily Big Valley Christian prevailed anyway. The Lions came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 8-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Madyx Mitchell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kailey Rivera, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Brynn MacWilliams was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Big Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Big Valley Christian's record is now 9-15. As for Riverbank, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20-1.

Looking ahead, Big Valley Christian will head out on the road to square off against Bret Harte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Bullfrogs at the right time seeing as the Bullfrogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Riverbank, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calaveras at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Bruins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
