Baseball Recap: North Eugene Victorious

North Eugene took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Churchill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Highlanders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lancers on Saturday, sneaking past 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Highlanders: when they faced off against the Lancers on Tuesday, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Michael Buschelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, North Eugene's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Baer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. The Highlanders are undefeated when Baer posts two or more runs, but 3-11 otherwise.

North Eugene is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Churchill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

North Eugene will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
