Baseball Game Preview: Littleton Lions vs. D'Evelyn Jaguars

Littleton hasn't had much luck against D'Evelyn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will face off against the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. Littleton has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Littleton will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Standley Lake, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 win over the Gators on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Gators since April 24, 2019.

Wyatt Alexander was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Lucas Calonder was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, D'Evelyn suffered their closest defeat since March 11th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Conifer by a score of 8-6. The Jaguars have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

D'Evelyn's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Littleton, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.

Littleton might still be hurting after the 18-4 defeat they got from D'Evelyn when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
